Don Super, who put on a super Rondy, has submitted his report (see below) and some pictures have been posted under Rendezvous Pictures. If you have thoughts for 2019, send your comments to Milton Paul, a brand new member who has volunteered to act as the VP and plan the next Rondy at a location a bit further north in the Chesapeake.
2018 ECCO RENDEZVOUS
The 2018 East Coast Camano Owners Association Rendezvous was held at the Holiday Inn Conference Center and Marina in Solomons, Maryland from 11 to 13 June 2018. We had 18 Camano owners and retired owners of Camanos and one guest. Weather and owner accidents limited the Camanos present to two, Chinook II and Irish Wake. The coordinators were VP Don Super and First Mate Phyllis. A fun pot luck meet and greet was held on Monday night in a hotel board room mixing new and old members. Tuesday was a full day with presentations by West Marine with Pettit Paints, and 3 presentations by Captains from the Chesapeake Area Professional Captains Association in the morning. The afternoon included presentations by the Calvert Maritime Museum, a presentation on anchoring equipment and procedures, and our own Tom Surles on Cruising to Canada. This was followed by our annual meeting chaired by President Pat Hunt. Pat, acting Treasurer, reported $6,258.52 in the treasury as of 1 May. The membership approved continuing dues at $25 per year. Following discussion of the web site and needed upgrades, the members voted to pursue the web site upgrades. The membership elected Pat Hunt to continue as President, Milton Paul to be Vice President and 2019 Rendezvous Coordinator, and Lea Anne Werder to be Treasurer. Tom Surles will continue as Web Site Manager and Lewis Hunt will continue as Bulletin Board Manager. Milton intends to hold the 2019 Rondy in the upper Chesapeake Bay. An enjoyable banquet was held that evening in the hotel. Wednesday morning started with a very active Camano Crawl with the two Camanos present followed by an in-depth discussion of maintenance and operation around picnic tables with much discussion responding to new owner’s questions. Thus ended a successful 2018 Rendezvous.
